Energy Tips
Let’s Get Ready
OK, while we wait for the FIRST official post, we want to get you thinking.
We will be covering many tips over the next 30 days, tips that will help you feel more energy.
Before we get started, we want to plant a thought for you: Energy is a coin with two sides:
- Things that give us energy.
- Things that drain our energy.
The more we become aware of both, the more energy we will feel.
So begin to think about what those things are for you…some will be BIG for you and some will be mini.
And let the fun begin! First post comes tomorrow. If you want to get on the email list for updates, do so here: https://wellness.myflodesk.com/energy

Tip #3
Morning Sunlight.
Go outside in the first half hour of being awake. This signals your body to release awakening hormones and helps to regulate your circadian rhythm.
(It will help you wake up AND sleep better at night.)
Note: No sunglasses for the first 5-10 minutes!
Tip #4
Let’s talk clutter and the power of decluttering.
Can clutter really effect your energy?
You’ve experienced it’s effect every time you’ve clean up a pile that’s been bugging you.
You know that feeling you get when you clean it up, it’s a lovely surge.
Here’s the thing with clutter:
- Clutter is a constant, often subconscious, noise that makes us say, “ugh” every time we see it – and that ugh drains our energy. We may be aware of the drain or we may not, but it’s there.
- Cleaning up the clutter, even just a little, gives us an “ahh…”, a surge of energy. AND once it’s cleaned up, it not only no longer drains your energy, it gives you a little energy every time you see the cleaned up spot.If you feel stuck in life, in your energy, declutter one spot in your home. It doesn’t have to be big at all. Five minutes can do it. You’ll be amazed how good something really small can make a change!
Tip #5
Dance!
Put on a song you love and dance, dance, dance!
Here are a few of my favorites: Spotify Playlist
Tip #6
Rebound!
Jump for a few minutes on a mini-trampoline.
Hold on for balance if you need, and find what feels good for you.
Remember, this can be as gentle or energetic as you like.
Rebounding helps to move the lymph through your body, and is a lovely, gentle movement to get going in the morning — or anytime, for a quick pick-me-up!
No mini-tramp?
Try bouncing lightly on the floor or soft carpet. You can keep your toes on the ground and gently bounce your heels — or get more jumpy if that feels good.
Use a wall or chair for balance if needed.
Tip #7
Ningxia Nitro!
Nitro is a plant-powered, energizing drink infused with essential oils, botanical extracts, D-ribose, Korean ginseng, and green tea extract to support cognitive function and physical performance without the jolt to your system.*
Most energy shots promise a quick boost, but often leave you feeling jittery, unfocused, and crashing just when you need to perform. They are packed with synthetic ingredients, excess caffeine, and sugar that push your body without supporting your mind.
NingXia Nitro® offers a smarter alternative: nature’s energy designed to help you stay cognitively and physically fit and in control. With naturally occurring caffeine, botanicals, and B vitamins that support both cognitive function and physical performance, Nitro delivers balanced support to help you stay alert and energized throughout your day.
Suggested uses:
- Start your day sharp.
- Use as a midday reset to support mental and physical performance without slowing down.*
- Place it in your gym bag for pre-workout fuel.
- Take on the go to stay alert and ready when it matters most.

Tip #8
Remember when we talked about clutter and the energy of clutter in Tip #4?
That’s what we are talking about here but expand it out a bit.
Things we tolerate are anything we say “ugh” to.
It could be that broken handle in the kitchen, the pile of stuff by the back door, the way you feel on Sunday night about going to work on Monday morning, that person you dread seeing at book club, the way you feel about the city you live in because you’ve always wanted to live in the country.
It can be anything.
And any toleration cleaned up, reduces the drain on your energy.
Here’s the thing, most of us stopped noticing the ughs long ago, but they are still there and draining our energy!
So, where do you begin?
Step 1: Start by identifying as many of the ughs you are aware of:
- Oh, yeah, that pile by the bed.
- There’s a cobweb on the ceiling.
- There’s that spot on the carpet that’s been there forever.
- I can’t stand where we hung the TV.
- The top shelf in the freezer drives me crazy!
Once you start identifying the ones you are aware of, you’ll start to notice the ones you had forgotten.
Step 2: Start cleaning them up!
Start with the easy things. (You KNOW you have things on that list that would take you 5 min!) Do the easy ones and then you’ll have more energy to do some of the harder ones.
Then I recommend setting aside a weekend or even a day to knock off as many as you can. It’s much easier to get as much done as you can while you are in the mood!
The energy is awesome!
Tip #9
Want a quick tip to improve your sleep fast?
Find your right hours for sleep.
There is at time at night that is the best time for you to go to sleep, you’ll fall asleep faster and get better quality sleep.
You probably already know what time you are sleepiest at night. If you override that, you get your “second wind” which is just adrenalin, and that makes falling asleep later even harder.
You also have a good time to wake up, you hit your sleep cycle at just the right time to feel good. I need to use the alarm to get up at the right time. If I sleep in, I feel groggy.
Start paying attention. I bet you’ll find your hours!
Tip #10
When you are tired, the last thing you want to do is move. Am I right?
Did you know that exercise doesn’t cost you energy, it teaches your body how to make more of it, both immediately and in the long run!
Does it matter what type of exercise you do?
Yes – but that depends on what kind of energy you are looking for:
*Aerobic exercise – like brisk walking or cycling, is particularly good for delivering sustained, daily energy. It improves cardiorespiratory fitness, helps regulate mood, and reduces perceived fatigue, especially in sedentary adults.
*Resistance training – builds muscle, which increases resting metabolism and makes physical tasks less tiring. Though the immediate post-exercise boost might be less pronounced than with cardio, over time, it plays a key role in long-term energy.
*Lower-intensity – like yoga and tai chi can calm the nervous system, lower cortisol (your stress hormone), and enhance parasympathetic activity.
Best time of day to exercise?
Best answer…when it works for you!
Tune into your rhythm, and use exercise to enhance it, not fight against it.
*Early riser – morning workouts can set the tone for the day, triggering a spike in alertness and positivity.
*Night owl – you may feel more energized with afternoon or evening sessions. If you try to force a morning workout it can sometimes lead to lower performance and reduced mood. BUT an exercise session too late in the day can effect your sleep so pay attention and adjust your workout times.
Can short bouts of movement boost energy?
They absolutely can!
Science is increasingly showing that ‘movement snacks’, brief bursts of activity lasting 2–10 minutes, are powerful tools for keeping energy up throughout the day.
They help break up sedentary time, increase blood flow to the brain, and give your mood and focus a quick refresh.
Try dancing to one song while making dinner – these micro-movements add up, without draining your tank.
How to start when exhausted or don’t feel you have time?
When you’re already running on empty, the idea of exercise can feel like just one more thing to do.
The trick is to start where you are, not where you think you should be, meaning fit in 5 min rather than the 60 you want to have.
Low-intensity, short-duration activity is the best way to start. Try gentle yoga, a 5-minute walk, or stretching while watching TV.
These small doses are enough to trigger feel-good brain chemicals without causing an energy crash. In fact, one study showed that even short, moderate-intensity sessions led to improvements in mood and vitality among exhausted adults.
Start small, stay consistent, and let your energy build from there.

Tip #11
Inner Boost & Balance. This is one of my favorites!
Here’re 2 ways to use it. I recommend trying each way for about a week. This will give you a chance to see how it works best for you.
#1 — take it every morning as part of your “usual things” and get the solid benefits of nutrition and energy each day.
#2 — take it strategically, when you notice that you need more energy! This approach gives you the structure for finding the time of day, the time in your personal rhythm, when it will help you the most.
I use both approaches depending on what’s going on in my life. Sometimes I wake up and know my Inner Boost is perfect to help me get going. Other days, I have good energy in the morning, and I wait and have it later in the day (mid-afternoon, anyone?) when I especially need the benefits!
Tip #12
Here’s s super easy tip for you that I use frequently: Binaural Beats.
First, what are binaural beats? Binaural beats may help boost mental energy and reduce fatigue by using sound waves to encourage active brainwave states.
You get two slightly different sound frequencies in each ear through headphones and your brain perceives a single pulsing beat.
Frequencies for Energy and Focus
- Beta waves (13 to 30 Hz): These higher frequencies mimic an awake, alert state. Listening to beta-range beats can stimulate concentration and mental sharpness.
- Gamma waves (30 to 50 Hz): These fast frequencies relate to high-level cognition, focus, and peak alertness.
- Combating fatigue: Specific studies suggest that mid-range beats (like 15 Hz) can help maintain working memory and lower mental fatigue when you feel drained.
AND there’s a ton of FREE videos you can watch on YouTube for these. Just search: Binaural Beats 30 to 50 Hz and a bunch will pop up. Be sure to wear headphones.
Tip #13
SUGAR || ALCOHOL || PROCESSED FOODS
(by causing rapid blood sugar roller coasters, triggering internal inflammation, and disrupting your sleep and digestion)
SUGAR:
Added sugars enter your bloodstream fast, causing a quick surge of energy followed by a steep drop in blood sugar that leaves you feeling exhausted.
Your body releases a flood of insulin to handle the sugar rush, which often overcompensates and leads to low energy and fatigue.
Eating sugary foods triggers cravings for more quick carbs, keeping you trapped in a constant cycle of low energy.
ALTERNATIVE: Sugar alcohols
“[They] offer a healthier alternative to sugar because of their lower calorie content and reduced glycemic response, which is the effect food has on blood sugar levels,” says Dr. Hu. “But they also have potential drawbacks, especially for those with sensitive digestive systems, so it’s best to consume them in moderation as part of an overall healthy eating pattern.” [Dr. Frank Hu, professor of nutrition and epidemiology with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health].
ALCOHOL:
Alcohol might make you sleepy at first, but it ruins deep REM sleep, leaving you unrested and tired the next day.
Processing alcohol makes your body lose water and essential minerals, leading to daytime sluggishness.
Your liver works overtime to clear alcohol from your system, diverting metabolic resources away from keeping your energy balanced.
Remember, it’s not just the alcohol that has carbs, but the sugary mixers can cause a spike!
PROCESSED FOODS:
Ultra-processed foods lack fiber and contain chemical additives that can harm your gut bacteria and trigger low-grade inflammation, causing physical fatigue and brain fog.
These foods provide rapid calories without sustained nutritional support, meaning your cells miss out on steady fuel.
These foods provide rapid calories without sustained nutritional support, meaning your cells miss out on steady fuel.
Remember, when you love a certain food, you don’t always have to give it up completely! Learning how to manage your portion sizes will help keep you off the blood sugar roller coaster.
Tip #14
This is one of my favorites! There is something about getting outside, moving my body, smelling fresh air, and getting some natural sunlight that fills my cup!
I actually looked it up and found out there is some science behind it…
Walking can give you more energy by improving blood flow and releasing chemicals that make you feel awake. It can improve your physical and mental health by lowering stress, boosting your mood, and strengthening your body.
Here’s how:
Physical
- Better oxygen flow: Breathing fresh air outside helps increase oxygen levels in your body, which wakes you up.
- Improved circulation: Light walking gets your blood moving and releases feel-good chemicals called endorphins.
- Lower stress hormones: Walking in green spaces can lower your body’s stress hormone, known as cortisol, by up to 15%.
- Daylight and Vitamin D: Exposure to the sun helps your body make vitamin D and regulate your natural daily energy rhythms.
Mental
- Restored focus: Natural environments give your brain a break from the constant noise and screens of daily life, helping you concentrate better.
- Less mental fatigue: Looking at trees and open spaces relieves tiredness in the brain and brings back a sense of inspiration.
- Calm nervous system: Even a short walk helps activate your body’s rest mode, which lowers blood pressure and eases anxiety.
Tips for an Energy Boost
- Keep it short: A quick 10-minute walk can clear your mind and stop an afternoon slump.
- Go outside: Walking outdoors in fresh air gives you more vitality than walking indoors.
- Start slow: Walk at a comfortable pace where you can still talk easily.

Tip #17
I don’t think there is something that can drain us or energize us as much as relationships.
For this post, let’s look at the ones that drain us.
Here’s the thing, I think most of us are aware that there are people who drain us in our lives. Sometimes even THINKING about spending time with them can make you feel dread.
But what we don’t realize is we have more choices that we realize, we just keep going with the status quo.
And, YES, I speak from experience! About 5 years ago, I released two of my friendships. One of the friends, my KIDS pointed out I came back frustrated and sad every time I spent time with her. I still stayed with her for a full two more years much more aware of how much she drains me. Not to mention she drained me every time I spent time with her.
Yes, I have more stories but this post is about what you can do!
Here are some ideas:
- BECOME AWARE – start to pay attention to the people you spend time with – especially those you spend the MOST time. Do they leave you feeling better or worse? Awareness is power.
- Move along from the relationship. If that is possible for you, sometimes that is for the best. The person I talked about above, I sent a break up email to her. We were enveloped in business dealings and I fulfilled all of mine for her. (She did not do the same for me and kinda screwed me, but that’s her karma.)
- Limit the amount of time you spend with them and give yourself permission to cancel if you don’t have the bandwidth to be with them.
- If they are someone with whom you really struggle but you cannot let them go (I had a family member that I didn’t want to cut out of my life), be intentional with how you meet with them. Do something that helps you feel good before you spend time with them and then something that fills you up afterward.
And, in case it DOESN’T go without saying, as you begin to be more aware of how you feel in your relationships, you are also going to become aware of the people who are GREAT for your energy.
Start to be very intentional with spending more time with them.
